There are, I think, just three of us to start the morning snow removal today. And one of those ought to be spending some quality time fixing equipment. Good thing most folks aren't on campus this week.

Roads are much better on the way in, and should be better yet after this afternoon's warming. Hopefully, it'll melt off enough I can start cleaning up the broken tree branches.

Frank came and started hauling stuff off yesterday, a bit before noon, By thinks. He got there while By was still home, but didn't say anything to By. Frank's been doing that, though, since Thanksgiving, lack of basic consideration and politeness being other reasons for wanting him gone. The biggest portion of his moving is supposed to be tomorrow; By's planning to stay home and keep an eye on him. We're not going to chase him down for the books he's borrowed, if we can't find them all; it'll be easier to just replace them. No fun, but easier.

Stayed up later than I should have last night (10:30), knitting. I'd pulled the Flower Basket shawl out, figured my hands could use the lanolin in that wool, and managed to complete a full pattern repeat, plus the first four rows of the edging. Yes, the edging--6 more rows, and that thing's finally done!

*sigh* I suppose my truck's warmed up now. Much as I'd rather not, it's time to go spread the icemelt.

It warmed up enough this afternoon that the salt and icemelt kicked in. Not as much as we'd like, but every bit helps. We've taken it easy today, unless the boss was watching, because (a) it's Friday, (b) we're still more than a week out from classes starting again, (c) we've still got an ice layer under things, and that's most effectively dealt with by giving the chemicals enough time to do their job. The Other Dave and I puttered all afternoon, did our best to distract the boss, and cleaned the shop a bit. (Too much icemelt on the floor = unsafe walking surface. That's motivation enough for us to do something about it.)

Still, I've run tired all day, and am looking forward to getting home tonight and finishing that shawl.
