We didn't get as much melt-off as we'd hoped yesterday, and they've changed today's forecast to merely 33 degrees, rather than the faster-melting 40 degrees. Oh well. Better some melt, than more snow. Campus is patchy today...anywhere we've gotten regularly(or had complaints about, and thus worked on more than usual) looks pretty good, the rest is glazed, half-melted snow ove a layer of hard ice.

Our road and the bottom of our driveway is a bit of an adventure. Things have melted just enough to make a smooth slippery surface on the road, and the driveway is starting to melt, so it's slushy. It's hard to get enough umph to get up through the slush, on the icy road.

Frank came and picked up a few more things yesterday while we were gone. We think he's supposed to get the rest today, but he hasn't said anything about it to either of us in about a week, so....I'm half tempted to call Kris, and see if he is indeed moving in there, until he decides whether or not he's going north.

I misremembered Robyn's and By's schedule for next week. She leaves early Monday, so By's got to be at work before the crack of dawn to get any final instructions. There's not that much to be done in her absence, but she wants someone to be at the building for clients, etc. By's planning to take wood and tools and set up in the basement, to get the boards ready to redo the floor in Frank's room (until later today, that is).

Talk to By a little bit ago. He said Frank had called, and said he was coming with extra people, his brother-in-law's short-bed truck (and isn't that a silly idea?), and cars, plural. He told BY he plans to get all the big stuff, plus whatever else fits this trip, then come back at an unspecified time for room cleanup and a last load in his car. So far, he's not pulled any of the petty stuff on us, that he did to his previous housemates, which is good. (Nothing major, he's not that motivated, just annoying and potentially problem-causing.)

By's trying to round up the cats, so they don't try to help.

Had an idea

Yes, yes I'm working, honest. I'm waiting for the icemelt I put down after lunch to kick in. That's work. Really.

Anyway, a knitting idea... )

Man oh man, I need one of these. Dunno where I'd put it, but that's rocks-yer-sox cool.

*sigh*

Pricey little bugger, too. Good thing I don't have the right conditions for it in my yard, it's easier to resist temptation that way.

Just for the record, reading the Plant Delights catalog online counts as continuing ed, according to my boss.

Maybe I won't finish the Fenna shawl tonight. I'm halfway through the binding off, just enough bound off to drape it over my shoulders and see how the length is. (The fitted shoulders in this pattern, by the way, are wonderful.) Unblocked, the shawl touches my thighs in front, the sides hit my wrists, and the back comes to the bottom of my...well, you know. It's a little shorter than my hair. And I can't decide whether to finish as is, or rip to before the border and add a few more inches. I've got plenty of yarn, the ball is still larger than a softball. And By's asleep, so I can't pester him for an opinion.
