Back to the real world
Jan. 6th, 2005 07:24 amMade it in to work today, a 45-minute trip rather than a 35-minute trip, not bad considering the weather. The roads were, between 5:15-6am, patchy: generally bad at intersections, with some blowing snow on east-west routes. Highway 10, for any heading on that road, isn't too bad, at least from Hwy 7 to Renner Blvd. Off ramps suck, no news there.
We forgot, in the bustle of getting me and my car ready for today, to make sure the truck was ready. Oops. By couldn't get the doors to the truck open this morning, and was planning to take more drastic measures involving warm water and an ice scraper.
Lost power a couple of times yesterday afternoon and evening, always when I was on the computer, of course. Longest we've been without power was an hour. We've some tree breakage in the front yard, on the ash (I'm very surprised there isn't more), but those trees were destined to become firewood soon anyway. There is moderate ice damage to trees on campus; no idea what the tree trail looks like, I"m not going to risk that drive yet.
