We made it to Mom's despite the snow last week--7" total, here. The most exciting part of the drive was getting out of the snowy, slushy driveway. Once onto the highway, it was clear all the way to Lincoln. And we drove out of the snow by Manhattan.

Thanksgiving was ok...it's always nice to see my family, but I'm not that comfortable around them anymore. Aside from the usual self-censoring, Mom's house is SOOOO noisy when everyone's there. She's used to having the TV on all day for background noise (her house sits in a valley, and radio stations don't come in well), and she's starting to get a bit hard of hearing, so the TV is louder than it used to be. Add in foure extra adults, trying to talk back and forth between the kitchen and the living room over the TV, then add a 2-month-old baby who's got his first bad head cold, and a five-yr-old boy with control of said TV, and too much candy.....argh. And Sis's oldest isn't making the adjustment from "only child and grandchild" to "big brother" very well, so he was in the way constantly.

Had a fun trip to Yarn Barn with [livejournal.com profile] classics_cat on Saturday. Didn't buy anything, but enjoyed the looking. Did get prices on some stuff, with an eye towards planning ahead on more projects. Got a nice compliment on the way into the store, too...I'd worn the white kimono cardigan I'd designed and just finished, and a lady on her way out stopped me to admire it. Very gratifying.

Saturday evening [livejournal.com profile] classics_cat and [livejournal.com profile] ranjtheobscure joined us for a late Thanksgiving dinner...ham and green bean salad and leftovers from Mom. Cat brought movies to watch while we ate. She knitted on socks, and I got lots and lots of pages folded for books.

Spent Sunday trying to deny the fact that I'd caught whatever crud Sis and her kids had. Gak. Still managed to get the pages I'd done the night before sewn up into text blocks. I was pitiful all day yesterday, and just sat at my desk and cased up some of the text blocks I'd made. They're still being pressed under a stack of phone books; I ought to go check on them soon. And By showed me how to use the clamp and trimming plane he'd made when he was in that bookbinding class at KSU; that will let me do mre formal-looking books.

It's snowing again today. I hope it stops soon, so the folks at work today will clean it up, and I won't have to mess with it much tomorrow. If I go in; I'm still feverish and pitiful. The car tracks in the driveway were still clear last time I looked outside, so we've not had that much snow. I guess as soon as this melts off, I ought to decide where I'm planting those last 25 tulips and get them in thr ground.

I'm babbling. And I'm thirsty again. Maybe a Coke would taste good...haven't had any since Sunday. Later, folks.
