Jul. 22nd, 2005 07:05 amHot, tired, and sweaty already. *sigh*
Seminar yesterday was good. Seminar yesterday was an afternoon in air conditioning, that alone was good. The fertilizer talk wasn't anything special, but the new plant introductions always trip my trigger. 'Profusion Flame' zinnia, 'nuff said. And petunias...ah, petunias. So many petunias, so little time and space to indulge in them all.
Saw my former employer yesterday...he sat down in the same row during the first talk. Odd, he hasn't changed at all, except for being balder than he was 5 years ago. Still nice as could be to see me, talked about who I had known who might still be at the company. He wants to come out to the tree trail, so his tree and shrub crew can study tree ID for the CLT (certified landscape technician exam). Dr. Stevens, who runs the hort farm, was encouraging this. Eh...could be useful, down the road, I supposed. But still, a bit odd.
Dr. Stevens was also telling people he's trying to talk me into helping Donna teach herbaceous ornamentals here...which is great, if the greenhouse job actually comes through. I certainly can't do that while still working in grounds. (On the other hand, the fact that he's talking about it in public suggests that he can get me approved by KSU, so the classes I teach here would transfer to their program, even though I don't have my masters. Which is an exceptionally cool thing. And he's been bugging Donna about when the two of us were going to apply to the masters program. He **really** wants us to do that. Again, IF the greenhouse job comes through....)
Talked to Mom last night, mostly about how bloody hot it's been, and the little "angels" she's got in her summer school reading class.
