At 5:28 this morning, the radio said it was already 80 degrees. Blech.

Still only one computer in the shop; hopefully tech support will come over and fix the other one today. We're all jonesing for our regular internet fix. Not to mention the work-related difficulty of all my tree trail records being on that machine.

I get to spend the afternoon in A/C, on the clock. Got a call yesterday afternoon, saying that the professionals' field day out at the hort farm was today, and that the director would comp Donna & I in if we wanted to go. Of course I wanted to go; silly humans. A whole afternoon of plant geekiness? Damn right I want to go. It certainly beats pretending to pull weeds in the heat that's predicted for this afternoon.

By came home last night and said Robyn did get into the Plaza Art Fair, so there's one show they're doing in Sept. She's trying to get into a 2-day show in LA, I think in Aug or Sept; it's one her sister (the painter) has done a time or two. And they're doing a collector's show & sale next week, Thurs and Sat.

Brought home another three flats of Donna's leftovers last night, so I was out in the garden until 8pm again. By very kindly kept me company while I weeded and planted. I'm sure it'll all need waterred again today; it was all very overgrown in the 4-packs, and today won't be nice to newly planted things, even though I tried to put most of them in the shade. Probably will bring home one more load, as she gets the rest of what she wants into her garden here.

Meant to put this in the previous entry, but there is a little news on the potential greenhouse job: we're still waiting to hear. The VP over that department thinks that the salary grant will go to the greenhouse job, Donna's boss does too, but they're both saying they'll know for sure in about 2 weeks. (The timing of that suggests to me that they're waiting on board approval; no one has said for sure.) So, cross your fingers for me, folks.

Donna's already making plans for how to work me into the teaching roster for Hort classes, should the greenhouse job become reality. And she's already gotten an ok from her boss to let me continue to work my 40-in-4 schedule (which would save me all kinds of gas money over 5, 8-hr work days).

WTF???

[livejournal.com profile] tristan_knight shared this link with me. It's a recent House bill to repeal the 22nd Amendment. Not sure what kind of a chance it has in passing, but still....I've heard rumors of this for a while, and written it off as paranoia and post-election disappointment. Seeing that it exists, scares me. I really don't need to see my world trying to live up to The Handmaid's Tale.
