Monday's revenge / Sock report
May. 21st, 2003 10:43 amI should have stayed in bed this morning. I stayed up too late last night finishing a dress (well, more chiton than dress, not really enough tailoring for a dress, but I digress), got up at 5:30am (which is when I usually LEAVE for work), got to work late, only to find that my last 6 flats of flowers aren't in yet, and we have a nasty personnel meeting this morning. Blech.
D, the part-timer from hell, strikes again. I'm not even sure what sparked today's meeting (of the entire grounds department, what waste). We got a lecture from the new boss about teamwork and working together. An ineffctive lecture, at that. AND, D seemed to think that none of the teamwork stuff applied to him, so he left being all smarmy and self-righteous. No one will let me bite the people who really deserve it.
The sock report: got lots done on Ranj's socks on the Topeka run. I'm about 1" from the heel insert, so almost halfway on the first sock. The pattern is more rhythmic and predictable than I'd expected--I'd designed it with one central motif at the toe, and another on the ball of the foot, and planned to spend half my knitting time watching the pattern. It's been smooth going, though. The pattern is vivd, and will be more so when I do the red and black ankle bands. Haven't decided what colors to do the heel in. I may do more of the red and black, for visual balance.
Had to run to Topeka last night, so we weren't very productive. But most of the prep stuff is done, until it comes time to pack the truck, and By'll do that tomorrow. Looks like the goat roast will be a pit roast, since By couldn't get the rotisserie motor to work. No biggie.
