Two days until Heartland. We are mostly packed, our tent is already on site and set up with the other firetenders, we have the groceries we need, and most of the laundry is done. After spending last night baking herb & butter potatoes and making sekanjabin, and this morning cooking several pounds of bacon (microwaves are wonderful!), I am rewarding myself with some knitting.

I ended up frogging the entire beige sweater. That gauge thing again. I don't know what I'm doing--maybe I'm becoming a loose knitter, all of a sudden. I've restarted that project, on #4 needles (the pattern calls for #6). Ah, well.

The sock report: Robyn's socks are done, heels and all. I'll weave in the ends and make the drawstrings at Heartland, that's a fairly brainless activity I can do while talking. Got 1 1/2" frogged out of Ranj's Turkish sock, and I've got that fixed, and I can (hopefully) get going on those again.

Right now, I think I'll take Ranj's socks and the grey lace sweater as my Heartland knitting projects. Both easily washable, fairly small, and the lace is really brainless.

I've also managed to plant everything I've brought home from the greenhouse, except for the 6 cannas in 1-gal pots. Yes, I was out planting in the rain. Wee!! Talk about a muddy mess when I came in. But that stuff ought to be okay without me while we're gone.

By's been very very busy, alternating between trying to finish tools for the firetenders, and being up at Gaea working with the firetenders. He doesn't know this yet, but I've scheduled him for a long nap on Friday. The boy needs it.
