I'm thinking I need to make a new medicine bag. Used to wear one all the time, made for me by a once-upon-a-time friend and lover, which had had a protective focus. Stopped wearing it years ago, because I needed to separate myself from the maker, and because I felt it had done its work, and burned it in one of the Heartland fires last year.

So now...I need to figure out what sort of thing I need. Got some leather--buttery soft scraps of deerskin leftover from a glovemaking factory. That's the easy part. I want this to help ground and center me, act as a focus. I'm thinking, right now, about:
*herbs--lavender, white sage, thyme (for courage), echinacea (healing)
*amber (for energy)
*salt
*turquoise

I'd like to use seeds of some kind, but most of the things that come to mind are either too big (acorns) or not in season, or both.

Comments/suggestions welcome.

Solar? perhaps, the obvious, sunflowers? I like that the seed itself is edible, has an underlying feel of nutrition/nuturing the work you mean to focus on.

just a thought.

love you : )

Hadn't thought about that, but yeah. That works. Actually, "nurturing" is part of the work I need to focus on--nurturing myself, mostly, so I've got the energy I need for the people around me. And I've added another draw on that, at the end of fest--don't mind too much, I just need to stay aware of it and try to take care of myself. Like getting to bed earlier.
