Too tired to do much last night, went to bed early. Very exciting.

I'm starting to think I shouldn't answer the phone when my sister calls. Not that this is new, but last night, like other times, she called, and talked, and *I* was depressed by the time she was done. Just the usual--kids, nasty husbeast, the dog the kid got attached to, too much debt--but gee whiz, Sis, if you're not going to do anything about stuff but bitch, I really don't need to hear about it. Ah, yes, one bit of news: according to Sis, the scheduled talk with my uncle and grnadmother, about selling Grandma's land, did not happen last week, because he had the flu. Guess I'll have to call Mom after all this week, see how that's going.

Saw the best t-shirt on a giggly little girl in the art building yesterday. It said: "I taught your boyfriend to do that thing you like." I think I need that shirt.

*chortles helplessly at the t-shirt*
:-)

If you complain about a problem, and don't propose (or at least seek) a solution, than you are just whining.

Sorry to hear about the sister chaos. Might not be out of line to say "Just not up for it right now."

Incidentally, that t-shirt, or one much like it, is here (http://www.tshirthell.com/store/product.php?productid=439)

I have been saying that--about half the time when she calls, I look at caller ID, and elect to not answer the phone. Been doing that a couple of years, when I was getting tired of her asking us for grocery money, rather than confront the Husbeast about his spending habits.

Thanks for the link, by the way. We had fun looking through the selection during lunch today.

Ah, family. Agreed with [livejournal.com profile] sdemory ...though I know how difficult it is to just say "I'm not up to this right now," from my own sister. We have two kinds of conversations: a) things are relatively stable; b) Haysoos, that's depressing. I get about a 50/50 chance with her. Sometimes I just can't hack it.

You definitely need that t-shirt.

Conversations with my sister range from concerned about the health of various family members (those aren't too bad), to her being in tears because she just had to do something horrible at work, or in tears because of her personal life, and the drugs she's on aren't coping with everything.

I feel the same way about talking to my sister. I understand that she doesn't have anyone else, but it's so frustrating to hear her have these realizations and yet still be living there--and be more concerned with buying stuff than with getting out of the house. She wanted to buy a car, we talked her out of it, she wants a vanity tag for the car she does have, blah blah.

How'd you end up being the only member of your family with a helping of common sense? You sis isn't stupid. *shakes head*

Heh...me? Common sense?

It just looks that way because the rest of them have none.

Hell, I think I could use that shirt. [*chuckle*]

I thought of you when I saw it, for some reason.
