Feb. 6th, 2012 04:53 pmJust listened to an NPR spot about the young women who are training for the first Olypmic women's boxing competition. These ladies are young and proud of their strenght, and that's great to hear.
But.....
Over and over, the author of the story points out the family lives the athletes have overcome...crushing poverty, broken homes, drug use. And I've got to wonder, is that *all* you've got to tell us about these ladies? They are more than their circumstances, more than their strong brown bodies.
Shame on you, NPR. Shame. On. You. You can do better than that.
