All those waves of black clouds and thunder and lightning and sporadic hard rains yesterday, and all we got at work was 1/2" of rain. So, I will probably water trees tomorrow, maybe this afternoon too. Not essential at the moment, but the extra now will help buffer them against the drought that is sure to come in July and August.

This morning, I am the Roundup Queen. Small tank this time...trying to get all the places I can't go with the golf cart and the 25-gal. Very exciting. So exciting, in fact, that I'm trying to psych myself up to go down to the tree trail and play Dances With Poison Ivy, before it completely eats that new shrub bed I started establishing this year.

I do have things I'd rather be thinking about. *sigh* My Chemical Annie gloves lack a certain something. Elbow-length, matte finish, not that good a fit...not nearly as interesting as the green velvet I've been contemplating.

Got some knitting done last night--the shawl I'm making for one mother-to-be is 14" deep now. I should go back to the afghan tonight; that's got an earlier deadline. And I got 4" total done on By's socks...which will stretch out, on his leg, to **almost** enough.

Having been a responsible adult all morning, even so far as having completed the much-dreaded Dances With Poison Ivy, I now get to reward myself with a trip to my favorite nursery, with Donna in tow, to spend the taxpayer's money. I think a pot of sandalwood-scented bamboo is going to follow us home :)
