Yes, I still exist
Dec. 6th, 2004 10:07 amStill sick, but am genuinely on the mend this time. Still coughing, but not as often, still somewhat plugged up, but the same box of tissues has lasted me two whole days, and my voice is starting to come back.
Still no knitting done, but I've finshed assembling a pile of books in the past few days, and am starting to make a (very small) dent in my paper supply. I just discovered the joy of piano-hinge bindings, which have a "made a long time ago" look to them, although I think they may be a modern artist-book development. You've gotta smile at a book that's held together with toothpicks. I'll try and get pics up, show you what I mean. I've also finished two of what I'm calling "half moon journals"...coptic-bound books using half a cd for each cover, with pages cut to the same shape. The first one took most of a day to make, because I was cutting the pages out with scissors, and it takes a long time to cut out 50 circles all the same size. By the time I did the second one, By had helped me find my circle cutter, and it went much better. The cd cover gives them a substantial feel to the hand, and the tight stitching makes them spring open when you untie the cords that hold them closed. And completely functional. Woo hoo.
This morning, I'm indulging in new knitting patterns from Knitty, which has just put up the Winter 04 issue. We'll be off to Lawrence in a little while to run errands and dispose of the recyclables.
