Not much news. I've not gotten the sleep I need, and By's gotten even less, so we're both tired and cranky. And I have no idea where my work coat is. I'm half afraid it walked off from the shop. grrrr. Or I've left it someplace strange at home. I'll be getting another one from work soon, but still, a coat's not a thing you like to lose.

Only have 800 or so bulbs left to plant, all the wild hyacinths and wild tulips I'm naturalizing various places. It's more and less work...less work because I'm not prepping a whole bed and then planting the whole mess at once, more work digging holes to plant 5-11 bulbs at a sitting.

Rehearsal went better last night. Had an extra person, one of Betty's students, I think; he played very well. Supposedly he has a brother who plays recorder to, who can't make it on Thrusday nights, but who will be playing with us next Friday. Had a little talk with Betty before the other folks got there, about Bob. She's quite sympathetic about his inability to count to 2 rhythmic challenges. I guess she's been trying to work with him, and gave him counting exercises and stuff, but none of that does any good if he doesn't practice. And he doesn't practice. She also told me he's self taught, out of a book, and that the self-teaching and playing in the group are his only music playing experience. grrrrrr. I did mention to Betty that some of my friends had left during the performances that first week at RenFest (not that I blame you, I wanted to leave too).

Robyn and her crew are getting the show organized. Sounds like By's going to start figuring the layouts today. They can't start the actual set-up until next week, because there's a wedding in the building tomorrow. She'll have at least a couple of new pieces, but she hasn't been able to spend the time in the studio that she wanted to. The intern isn't doing any better. *shakes head* How anyone can get to the age of 21 and be that non-functional, I don't know.

Haven't done much knitting since the weekend. Too tired and cold Wednesday night, and last night was rehearsal. Did take the white kimono sweater with me to rehearsal, and knitted while I was waiting for everyone to get there. I've got a small bit left on the right side, then the right sleeve and borders to finish that one. Maybe I'll knit some at work today. The boss is quite cheerfully absent today.

I reallized yesterday that the annual show was exactly two weeks off. So:

13 days of prep left.

So this morning, Courtney and I spent some quality time digging in the dirt and being assulted by piccolo wildebeasts talking to the kids in the Child Care playground about planting tulips.

Wildebeasts cling to fence while asking questions, and the number pestering gardeners changes as they notice other things on their side of the playground. Wildebeasts speak in that soprano tone peculiar to the very young.
Wildebeasts: "Whatcha doin'?"
Us: Planting flowers. returns to digging
Wildebeasts: "Why are you digging holes?"
Courtney: "To plant flowers." I will note now that Courtney is much more social and polite that I am, even when I'm trying. And I'm not trying for a bunch of rude 4-yr-olds.
Wildebeasts: "Those are big holes. How many holes are you making?"
Courtney: "We didn't count." returns to digging
Wildebeasts: "How can you dig so many holes?"
Me: "We're bigger then you are."
Wildebeasts: -----. Wildebeast wanders off, confused and slightly offended.

Sometimes, the devil takes me. That's my only excuse.
