Skipped rehearsal last night, and instead spent quality time with a warm blanket and Code Of Conduct by Kristine Smith. It's the first of a trilogy, been out a while, a good sci-fi ex-military murder mystery with aliens and a heroine on the lam.

Also spent quality time with the computer. It's been crashing a lot lately, and just recently it's been saying the hard drive is nearly full. *sigh* I cleaned a bunch of stuff out last night, and ran defrag; we'll see tonight how far that gets us.

By spent last night working up patterns and laying out stuff for his annual show projects. He's got to get at least 2 or 3 done, since Robyn put him (as Mathon House*) on the invite as a guest artist.

By says Robyn's little business intern is NOT doing well, and Robyn's trying to figure out who to talk to about not letting her finish the semester. He said Robyn spent 10 minutes on the phone yesterday, and got all the information the intern has spent 3 weeks working on. His guess is that the intern has gotten by in life thus far by being very cute, and petite, and blond, and hasn't had to do for herself. (Just the kind I have NO patience with at all.) And they really don't have time to babysit the girl during the run-up to the annual show.

* Mathom House = our new name for our household. Mathoms, as described in the beginning of Fellowship of the Ring, are items you keep around because you know they'll be useful eventually. Applied, in the original, to stashes of items in hobbit houses. An apt description of our house, even if most of the residents bear no other resemblence to hobbits.

A quick stop-over at the greenhouse to give Donna some 1-gal pots and play with the baby rats turned into a mushroom ID lesson for Courtney and I. Amanitas out by the barn, lots and lots of them, a couple of stinkhorns in the orchard (nontoxic, but the smell is enough to knock you out), shaggy manes on the tree trail by the pecans (tasty!), and horse mushrooms at the north end of the trail, past the last persimmon tree (also tasty). Then Courtney & I came back to the shop and googled for amanitas, just to see how poisonous they are. (The answer is, very. The LD-50 on these things is 0.1mg/kg. That's bad shit.)

My tulips just arrived, and part of the packing material in one of the crates was a spiffy new hooded sweatshirt, very warm and soft, with kangaroo pockets and the Colorblends logo (my current pimp supplier). Let's hear it for free stuff!
