Nearly strangled the roommate this morning. 4am is not the time to cook microwave popcorn, if you're the only person in the house is awake. Woke us up, woke the cats up, all of us glared at the kitchen. Nothing like starting a cold wet day tired and groggy. And I've got a truckload of mulch to haul through a building to the two courtyards today. Blech.

The boss has already bounced through this morning. We're nursing our caffeine supplies, he's babbling about finding his first cup of coffee, and he's perky. I wonder how hard I'd have to hit him with a shovel to shut him up.

Some days, I like the hospitality lunches. Today was not one of them. I was (am) tired, very muddy, and cold, and not at all in a mood to entertain and be company for Vice President and New Boss. And for the first time, the food was not what I would have chosen. Great presentation, really funky salad dressing (some sort of sweet-fruity-vinegar-in-a-bad-way stuff, over baby spinach and arugala. (Needless to say, I didn't finish the salad.) The "roasted duck breast" was four SMALL slices--tasty slices, but just four little bits on top of the salad. The soup...ooooo....I could have made a happy lunch of the soup and some nice crusty bread. A creamy pumpkin soup, with a dollop of sour cream and a sprinkling of cashews. Wish the rest had been that nice.

Speaking of tired and muddy and cold, I need to email Betty and bow out of rehearsal tonight. I'm just not together enough for that.
