I'm still trying to figure out where the bruise on the back of my hand came from. Work, certainly, probably on Wed, probably when I was unloading tree branches. It (and the lump underneath it) showed up yesterday morning.

Got a fair amount of pruning done the last two days--enough to fill a 20-yd dumpster; not bad with hand tools. Not bad with my current "I don't want to work, I need a nap" state of being.

Spent about an hour of "work" yesterday afternoon at the greenhouse, talking to Donna and playing with the baby squirrel. He's big enough to look like a squirrel now, and very very active--seems to think the people are trees that can pet him. Donna's gotten very attached; she'll have a hard time sending him off into the wild next spring.

11 o'clock aerobics again last night, woo hoo! I've slept very very well the last four nights *grin*

The sock report: I tucked the Timberframe socks in the drawer at work yesterday. Got about an inch done on the leg yesterday afternoon, while we were waiting for 4:30 to roll around. I'll get these done eventually.

The unsock report: Finished two temari last night. The first one I'd started Wed night--3" burnt orange base, "Winter Pines" pattern in shaded dark blue and purple and garnet, a line of very pale peach, and very dark blue outlines. I know how that sounds, but it really does work. The second I had already marked a while ago, 2" dark red base, a four-centers "Winter Pines" pattern in dark blue and bright orange. I seem to be on an odd colors binge this week. They've all worked, but the combinations I've done all week have looked very strange until I stitched with them.

Peering over Courtney's shoulder at the cover of the latest issue of Horticulture, I was amused by the main headline:

"Agaves for everyone!"

Now, doesn't that sound like a rallying cry?

Or maybe I'm just easily amused this morning.

No, as a matter of fact, I don't feel like working this morning.

i tend to speak in riddles, and getting a straight answer out of me is indeed a notable moment. while i may act a little crazy, i am actually quite lucid and tend to be the voice of reason. my sanity is in a good balance with my insanity.

how mad are you?

It's all gone. I soooo wanted a nap after lunch; almost fell asleep over the tree catalog I'd been reading. (Hey, it's work-related!)

As far as the boss knows, I'm researching maple hybrids until the trash people come pick up the full dumpster, then I'll go pick up my pruning mess from this morning. We shall see. I've only 2 1/2 hrs left of the work day.

I actually am researching maple hybrids, sort of. The guy that teaches the tree id class told me this morning that he thinks all of our silver maples (Acer saccharinum) are mislabelled, and may actually be Freeman maples (Acer x freemanii), which is a naturally occuring hybrid between red and silver maples. So now, I'm going to spend some quality time driving around looking at petioles (leaf stems, for the non-botanically inclined) to see if they're green (as on silver maples) or red (the hybrids).

And, I get paid by the hour for this.
