It's an unSock Report because I put the socks down for a little while to catch up on other projects.
classics_cat, I'm at a point on your socks where I need to have you try the foot on, be sure I got it right. Although, it does fit my foot rather well.....
Picked up the grey Faroese shawl again last weekend. I'm 55 rows into it, and I've decreased out enough stitches the rows are going much faster now. I can 4 or 5 a night, rather than 2. I'm getting antsy to finish this and move on to the maple leaf shawl and nap shawl patterns I got at Yarn Barn last trip.
Finally decided on a basket weave pattern for Stan's lap blanket, in LB Homespun and Woolease held together (LB Homespun was a little too small for the needles I had available to use, hence the Woolease for a little extra bulk). Shades of burgundy and brown, with a few lighter stripes for interst (read here: use up stash). I got a rather strong reminder yesterday that I really need to finish that, and I have a deadline. Donna told me yesterday that he stopped taking the chemo two weeks ago, because it hasn't changed his prognosis, and he doesn't think an extra few weeks are worth the pain and suffering of the chemo. After yarn selection and swatching, I got about 2" done last night. I hope for significant progress on it this weekend.
Set out and packed several balls of yarn and 3 sock patterns last night for today's truck knitting. I've been working on socks in the "Crocodile" pattern Opal yarn. They're okay, but I switched it to aluminum needles because I was afraid of breaking more of my very fine ones, and they're too hard on my hands for all day. I don't even remember what I pulled last night. (shuffles papers) Let's see, toe-up cable, twisted rib, and a colorwork pattern (which would explain why I packed 5 colors.....note to self--don't pack knitting bag at 11:35, strange things end up there). We'll see what I'm in the mood for this morning.
Other than knitting, I've been trying to stay in the shade and keep my trees and myself well watered this week. Our turf guy says we're 8 1/2" shy of our average precip for the first 8 months of the year. Anybody know an effective rain dance?
