Long hot days
Aug. 23rd, 2003 10:53 amLet work at 6:30pb yesterday--another late day watering trees. Not sure how late I'm staying tonight. I want to get everything watered very well, hopefully enough to hold most things until we get some rain. The city of Olathe started water restrictions Thursday (I think); the boss is expecting to hear similar news from Overland Park very soon. The only question is whether or not the college will abide by the restrictions. I'm told they haven't in the past, but the people who made that decision have all retired, and I don't know how the new guy will decide.
The sock report: I decided on the colorwork sock, "Timberframe" , from a back issue of KnitNet. Only not quite, because I wasn't sure how the leg and cuff would fit, and decided to make it toe-up, so I started the pattern at the end. And then, the heel on the original pattern was screwy (like the editor left out a few lines or something), so I got out one of my other patterns, where I know the heel works.
So, I'm almost to the end of the heel on the first sock now. Woolease sport (can we say stash reduction?), #2 needles, 8 sts per inch, four colors--main color mushroom, then blueberry swirl, royal blue, and a blue heather. Not as bright as the original, but nice. I'm contemplating resizing it for By, and pulling out all my browns in that yarn weight.
Thursday, we leave for Laid Back Labor Day at Camp Gaea. We both need the break. Since R & M may be driving down to attend, we're starting the decontamination routine on everything we're taking (R is VERY allergic to cats). Still, we're looking forward to seeing them, and getting away.
Time to go water more trees. Yippee.
