Wanted: a good long nap
Aug. 1st, 2003 07:13 amNot gonna get it, though. Bummer. At least today's seminar will be in the air conditioning until after 5pm.
Yesterday was a long day. Took an hour and a half, three people, and two very full truckloads of debris to get the treehouse down. Confiscated a garden hoe, a shovel, two nice hammers, a pry bar, a hacksaw frame, and a Corona brand folding pruning saw. Sooner or later, the parents of these little yard apes will run out of tools for the children to steal.
Got home last night to find Meg & Andrew in the driveway--Meg had called just before By got home, saying she'd invited herself over and was bringing dinner. Cool--dinner and conversation and a cute kid. They left around 8, which left me plenty of time to sit and vegetate and knit.
Finished the fronts of the tied-up tee last night, with about a third of skein #6 left. The should go easier--no short-row shaping, no front placket, just easy back and forth and counting.
The Sock Report: started the heel shaping on the aran sandal sock yesterday afternoon. The wind picked up and temp spiked to too hot to spray, about the same time as my motivation dropped off, so I knitted the last couple hours of work. I dug out the red and black yarn for Ranj's Turkish sock last night, so that will be ready to go for tomorrow in the watering truck. I'd really like to finish all three projects (both socks, and the tied-up tee), but that maybe asking a bit much.
I'd asked By to try on the spiral rib tube socks last weekend, to see if the rib stretched adequately around his feet. Seemed to work okay, I just needed to make the socks longer for him. Which means I could do a pair of those as Xmas presents for his dad (tube socks being an easy solution of how to do surprise socks for someone whose feet you can't measure). I think I'm going to get him mom some silk embroidery threads--there's a gal who sells handpainted floss and silk perle, very reasonably, and all the ladies on the temari list who've tried her wares really like it. So that's two presents figured out, umpty-dozen to go.
