My entire to-do list got preempted this morning when I called By's mom's travel agent to make sure my name got corrected on the tickets (misspelled first name, married name listed, which is not on my legal ID), figuring that the heightened alert status would bugger things all to heck. Good thing I did. Travel Agent had to call United Airlines, who said the options were to (a) travel with my marriage certificate, of (b) buy another ticket. Ye gods.
So, a mad scramble, just ended, for the marriage certificate. Which was in the mortgage folder, rather than the drawer I remembered seeing it in last.
I've this conversation with By's mom before. Last time we flew, for Grandpa's funeral, I was allowed through, even though my ID didn't match exactly, but was told to fix that before I flew again. When we got the itinerary from Mom, I asked her to correct it, and she said it'd be no big deal. I guess she got Travel Agent to make a note about the misspelled first name, but that was all. Grrrrrr.
I do understand why By headed west first chance he got, and why he's never gone back.
