Other states do things just as as silly as mine: this article, detailing how one of the legislators in the state of Tennessee wants to outlaw dildos and “any three-dimensional device designed or marketed as useful primarily for the stimulation of human genital organs….”

**blinks** Surely, there are more important issues to be dealt with in Tennessee. [livejournal.com profile] tnrkitect, thoughts?

So, two-dimensional devices designed or marketed as useful primarily for the stimulation of human genital organs would be ok?

Of course, since the term "genitals" is undefined in the relevant section of the Tenn. code, we'll have to work with dictionary definitions. So, the bill, as written, would not seem to prohibit any sort of anal toys. By extension, I guess it'd be ok to market dildos to gay men or to other folks for non-vaginal use. [*chuckle*]

What's even odder, is that the legislation would permit wholesale distribution by university faculty, psychiatrists, librarians, etc., under certain circumstances. Brings new meaning to the term "special collections..."

BTW: Link to the bill tracking page for the legislation [including the bill text, which is good for more giggles] is here: http://www.legislature.state.tn.us/bills/currentga/BillCompanionInfo.aspx?billnumber=HB3798

**shakes head**

I must admit, the distribution by university faculty and librarians rather puzzled me. Makes you wonder what classes get taught there, doesn't it?
