Rambling

I am so sleep-depped today, it's not funny. So much for my intention of going sans Coke today. I would have made it through yesterday on one, and tea, had it not been for the stress.

Had a great time running around shopping (and occasionally buying) with Cammie yesterday. We hit several interesting places in downtown Overland Park (including The Yarn Shop and Penzey's Spices), and then ran all the way out to Independence Center for clothes shopping. It's all her fault, I swear--in the past week I've bought two (!!!) pairs of dressy, girly shoes, and two (!!!!!) girly skirts, neither of which went past my knees. I would not have done this without outside encouragement. (I must say, in my own defense, that the skirt purchased yesterday goes with lots of stuff in my closet, and is a little longer than that cute little denim number I wore to the NYE party. And By's quite happy with them. And Cat, wait until you see the shoes. I actually bought sock yarn yesterday, because the one I got last weekend deserve extra-cute socks.)

The afternoon was, not spoiled, but certainly darkened by a real-life drama spilling over into HSA, then back into real-life. The short story is that someone who was fired from By's new workplace, just before Xmas, came to the HSA list, resigned from his committee head positions, and along the way slandered the person who fired him. Messily. Thankfully the mods on the HSA list shut it down very quickly, but those two emails went out to a lot of people first (we're talking hundreds), and HSA's going to have to do some kind of damage control, or it will affect the festival, and the businesses that were slandered. And just in time for this Sunday's meeting, too. **sigh**

No word on the truck yet, we're hoping we'll hear something today. Otherwise, we'll keep doing the borrowed-car shuffle a little while longer. And yes, the truck is now back on full coverage.

I need to call Donna this morning, see if she was still taking today off per her plan on Monday, or what's going on there....There was a list of things that got sprayed yesterday; nice to have someone else doing that. The list of what I did on Wed didn't make it to B, so he sprayed a bunch of things I'd hit already, but that's not a bad thing. There's always bugs on the coleus.

Yeah...

That Cammie's a BAAAAAAD influence ;) But it's OH so fun ;) It's good to see you're on the "shoe" band wagon.

Shoe bandwagon? I wouldn't go that far. I still own less than a dozen pairs of shoes, total. Counting the nearly-dead pair of work boots I've kept for a couple of years as backup.

Oh, just hang around with us for a while....soon you'll be having a shoe problem too. LOL!
When you are knitting socks, do you carry along the elastic thread with it or just make them so perfectly they stay up and fit and stuff??? I've only ever made socks with the stretchy yarn. I love them, but I like some of the other sock yarn that doesn't stretch too....

Depends on how tall the sock is, and who it's for, and so on.

For By's skinny legs, knee-high socks are no problem, just do a nice deep 2x2 ribbing at the top, with needles a couple of sizes smaller than normal so it's snug.

For knee-high socks for me, I'd do ribbing plus elastic, and think about sock garters. I usually do ankle-high for myself, and I do some leg shaping so they stay put.

I worry more about durability in the all-wool sock yarns; some of them can abrade in the heels and toes, and a little bit of reinforcing thread helps that a lot.

I saw a really cool one on Home Improvement one time. Had a motor and everything. I'll bet Byron could do it. LOL!

Dark corners, possible. Dark corners have potential. Dark corners with cute girls have lots of potential. More shoes? Only if absolutely necessary. By my definitions.

And by the way, my boyfriend says I should resist asismilation on this one. And I should listen to my boyfriend, right?

Yes, you should listen to your boyfriend, however on the subject of shoes you should listen to your girlfriends. And of course if your husband, your boyfriend, or your girlfriends are offering to buy you shoes, you should not listen to any one else.

And in what time might Byron build a shoe rack, hmmmm?

We had that discussion yesterday afternoon.

Ya know, if him building a shoe rack means him in my closet wearing a tool belt, I'll make time :)

Yes, but would the tool belt actually stay on him long enough for the work to get done?

No, your right, probably not, but it would be fun to try
