Work grumblings
May. 9th, 2003 02:42 pmI didn't want to put this with the last entry, because the storm really was neat last night, and I didn't want to spoil that by ranting.
Work today has alternated between really fun and oh-my-god-I-want-to-bite-something. I got to go plant shopping on someone else's credit card (work), and got to buy a few really cool iris for myself at the wholsesale, non-taxed price (with my own money of course, just borrowed work's account number).
That pleasure was spoiled midday by the baseball team, who seem to think that it's okay to call the grounds staff inappropriate names. I don't let the baseball coach call me b***h, and I certainly won't let his team do that. Johnny, the lead groundskeeper, says I should go to HR and file a formal complaint, but I don't want that kind of hassle right now. I've got too much to get pruned and planted before graduation (a week from today). Besides, after the name-calling, I went and yelled at my boss's voicemail, who forwarded it to HIS boss's voicemail, who forwarded it to the head of the athletic department. That ought to be enough. I did tell Johnny that IF it happened again, my next stop was HR. And, it's not like I can say exactly which of the baseball team did the name-calling; I just know that they were in our uniforms. And I don't have a good enough memory for faces to look at them and pick one.
The good news (aside from plant shopping): I don't have to mess with anything on the baseball field for a while.

Date: 2003-05-10 04:13 am (UTC)I'll hold your offer in reserve.....but for now, it's gone to the head of the athletic department, who is Really Tired of getting this kind of complaint from women who have to deal with Coach Shelley & his crew, and who was talking yesterday about a written apology from the whole team. (Which, btw, goes into their permanent files at HR.) I told my boss that this was their last chance, and next time, he'd get a call letting him know where I was, and that my next stop was HR. Who will hear about any and all incidents--there's no time limit.
Best of all, it's raining all over his precious infield this morning.
