But today will be better, if only because most of the people who pissed me off won't be around today.

Ended up sans internet last night...the computer was acting funky, so I set it to run various Norton things while I knitted and talked on the phone. It's scary, how much I get done when I'm not internetting. (Is that a word? Doesn't matter, I'm running on decaf thus far, it'll do for a word, for now.)

Had a bonsai elm riding shotgun on the way in this morning; I get to babysit it and give it some TLC for the next month. (And, babe, it really looks like it just needs regular watering and a smidge of fertilizer. But I'll pamper it for a while.) Also hauled in my copies of Hortus Third and Flora of the Great Plains. We haven't been able to find any references on exactly what the differences are between coleus and perilla, and some of the varieties look VERY similar. It'd be nice to have a good answer for the students who're interested enough to ask that sort of question.

Forgot to mention that I'd called Mom a couple of days ago, and she says that Sis is doing somewhat better, health-wise. Sis is in her last week of foster-care work, and has (for now) a job lined up substitute teaching for a nearby school district. Mom is vastly entertained by the idea that both her kids have ended up in education.

I have been watering it every other day, and we put some little pellet things in it to get rid of the mites, but it did not work. I'm so happy you are going to take care of it, it's such a pretty little tree. Thank You

I'm going to take the rock off the top of the soil, see what condition the soil and roots are in.

Donna is firmly of the opinion that it should go outside for the winter. (Most bonsai, if they're a hardy species, do better if you plant the thing, pot and all, in the ground for the winter, in a very protected spot. And then mulch it well. ) Dunno if that's something you could talk Russ into, but it'd probably look better the following year.
