This pattern showed up in Interweave Knits a year or so back. I used the ever-present wool singles (because after all this, I still have pounds of the stuff lying around), and I think a 6 or 7 needle. That's finer than the pattern called for, so I ended up doing more pattern repeats, which really got slow after a while.
This isn't a terribly complicated pattern, just a 10-row repeat, but I just couldn't memorize the repeat, and had to have the chart with me the whole time. And that slowed me down a lot, both in terms of just speed of knitting, and in that this project didn't travel, because I was afraid of messing up the magazine.
And the black fuzzy thing at the bottom right of the first pic is one of the cats, Fuzz, who kept trying to "help" all afternoon.
