I failed another saving throw against temptation this afternoon. That makes three times in the past week. Either the universe is giving me tasty carrots to motivate to keep plodding through the mess that is my current schedule, or it's testing me to reveal character flaws. *sigh*

But what else am I to do when Donna meets me at the door of the greenhouse with the magic words: "Hey little girl, want some petunias?" Silly question. Of course I want petunias. I adore petunias. I crave petunias. I wallow in petunia lust every spring, stroking the pages of seed catalogs and cursing the cold nights until I can plant them out in their purple and pink glories. I brought home an entire flat, five different colors. My car now reeks of petunias, and will for days, and that's a wonderful thing.

But did I stop there? Oh, no, can't have that. Here's a flat of golden yellow lantanas, all daffodil yellow and tangy, with no other home. And some marvelous tropical gingerish thing with a name I can neither spell nor pronounce, but I'm sure it will look quite fine in my front flower bed with the hedychiums. And five 'Pink Angel' cannas, poor waifs that they were, because the variety is prolific as it is loved, and one *can* have too much of a good thing. And a flat of pineapple sage and stevia, because I'm the weird herb lady. Wonder if my mom would like some of those....Donna won't let me leave without a flat of morning glories, a pack of each color, and that one has variegated leaves...Oh, mustn't forget the three pots of wormwood Susan brought in just for me, they've been waiting for me while I was on vacation.....

Shades of the bag lady sceen in Labyrinth. It's really quite embarassing, and I do try, but sometimes I just can't go without a fix. Then I stock up. Because free plants are always good, right?

Look at it this way: you've now got lots more pretty, well-scented flowery goodness, so it's not like it's a bad thing. See? Giving in to temptation has its upsides.

**evil grin spreads across my face**

**goes wandering off to locate other temptations...**

You, sir, are officially No Help. Especially as you are the direct cause of my second failure against temptation this week.

Glad to see someone is adding tempatation into your life ;-)

Free plants are always good. Just think, if you get enough of them, there won't be a yard to keep mown. :-D

You're no help either. And don't you dare give him suggestions.

Yes, free plants good. Free plants in the ground before the rain started would be better, but I can't have everything.

I wouldn't dream of giving out suggestions. If I give away my repetoire, what would you have to look forward to when I vist later this summer?

It's raining hard enough to half drown out the radio, and is darker out now than at 6am. Good enough?

All sorts of devious and enjoyable thoughts come to mind given that scenario.... ;-)

Yea, though I walk through the valley of temptation,
I will fear no evil, for I have already felt its kisses on my skin, and they are sweet.
Thy rod and staff excite me;
Thou preparest a table of delights and invite me to feast;
Thou annointest my head with sweet words,
My thighs runneth over.

Surely desire and pleasure shall follow me all the days that I dwell here,
and I will dwell in the house of my master forever.

No, I don't have any idea where that came from, beyond half-remembered snippets of the 23rd Psalm. Heresy in the morning, keeps the brain sharp.

:P

I should do a better draft when I'm not at work and looking over my shoulder, call it "The Heretic's Psalm".

Well, I shall metaquote (http://www.livejournal.com/community/metaquotes/3236150.html) you anyways, and when you do a better draft, we can update it ;-) :-P

Think the update will stay private, for now. That draft was a bit more serious. I seem to be in a really odd headspace since we got back from fest. *shakes head*

But thank you for the compliment.
