Just in case anyone's curious, my first tall bearded iris bloomed yesterday--an old-fashioned purple, with slightly lighter purple standards. The border beardeds have been blooming for over a week, and in fact are nearly done.

I have one that's racing to be first; I can't tell yet if it's a pure dark purple or a black one. My red ones usually bloom later, as I recall.

I keep telling myself that one of these years I will go out each day, and photograph whatever's started blooming that day, and do a photo-timeline of my iris. Wouldn't mind doing that with my daffs, too. This year's already scrambled, so maybe next year.
