It's not 4:30 yet.....*sigh*
Apr. 9th, 2005 07:50 amAnd I shouldn't be tired, because I went to bed at 8:15 last night, but I'm not at all enthused about being here today. So far, I've spent my morning being pestered by New Boss, and shepherding around the new PT guy, who seems nice enough, but...I'm used to having Saturday mornings to myself, and this messed up my routine. And the shop grunt is sick today, so The Other Dave and I have to cover the shop, so naturally there are 10 vehicles going out. And one of the 7am departures had a bad battery, so The Other Dave has until 10:30 to get a new battery in it and make sure everything else works. And we're short a vehicle beyond that, because the secretary can't keep track of things--Word Processing has had one of our van for weeks, because their delivery scooter is (still) waiting on parts, and the secretary scheduled that van to go out today. Argh.
Good thing I slept last night; I'm headed over to the Charlesworth's after work to do HSA registration things. That will probably run late.
I did get a flat of cole crops tucked into the ground yesterday aafter work...I'd brought them home Wed night, leftovers from Donna's Home Hort class. Had a nice chat with Mom, just took the phone out with me and planted at the same time. Mom's amused by that. She's still having trouble with the kids next door parking in her yard and messing up her flower beds, but we're going to fix that in June, so she's in a better humor about the whole business. She said Sis's youngest goes in for surgery next Wed, to get tubes put in his ears. Sis is handling it ok, Mom said, but Sis's husband isn't, which is normal. And Sis and her hub got the ok on their loan, so they're going to start building their house. Sis is excited about that.
Looks like our camp might not be as drama-free as we had hoped for this Heartland. One of the Omaha Heretics, C, who is recently single, hooked up with a local gal, J, who most of us are not crazy about. And she comes with a 9-yr-old who is all of J's most annoying behaviors in miniature. Now, C has a camper, so he won't be camping with us, and he's newly unemployed (again), so he probably won't be eating with us either, but Camp Mom has already had to tell him that J isn't part of our camp, and will NOT be eating with us. I'm a little worried about J trying to dump her kid on our camp, since the one child who'll be camping with us is a friend of J's daughter, and J's got a terrible habit of leaving her kid with whatever adult is close at hand. I've already told Camp Mom that I will chase J and child out of camp if they're underfoot or too annoying, and bugger anyone that that pisses off.
A sign of C's lack of responsibility: they hooked up last Sat, at the woodbusting weekend, he's called J multiple times a day since then, quit his job Wed, drove to KC to see her yesterday, and apparently plans to move in with her after Heartland, because "she makes good money". Argh. Part of me thinks that I should give her a public service warning about C, part of thinks I should shut up, because if C & J are together, neither of them are out hunting innocents.

Date: 2005-04-10 02:32 pm (UTC)We shall see; with C spending the whole weekend with J, maybe the new and shiny will rub off. He's got some personality quirks that I'm told are sure to hit her buttons. Someone more tactful than I has pledged to have a talk with J after this weekend, if she's still moony over C, just a little public service warning :)
