Still drugged today, because I woke up feeling like my sinuses had been stuffed full of feather pillows, but the world is generally better today. Fewer idiots on the road, my parking space was waiting for me, my desk was cleaned off, just like I left it.

BTW -- Cammie, have I mentioned that I'm up over 230 squares now? :)

This entry by [livejournal.com profile] ozarque (who happens to be linguist and author Suzette Elgin Haden), entitled "Linguistics; political language and strategy; what on earth is Bush up to?".

Her comments in the entry are food for thought, a couple of the comments left are equally interesting. (The 4th on down, I think it is, about the actual details of the port ownership deal, and one of hte last ones, about the possibility of a president who's more brain damaged that Reagan was in the beginning stages of Alzheimer's.)

Something to ponder while I go water the greenhouse.

Not on purpose, but...one of the tricks we use to start the trickier hot peppers is to soak the seeds in hot water overnight. Then you strain the seeds out (carefully, so as not to lose small expensive seeds). I strain into a beaker, so if I lose a seed in the process, I can recover it.

When you start with 3 kinds of habaneros, pequins, 3 strains of chiltepins, a couple of wild peppers, and an ornamental tobasco strain, this strangely scented, yellow-orange liquid deserves a biohazard label.

Instead of an EPA escort off property, it was carried VERY carefully to the headhouse sink and dumped down the drain. And was followed shortly by a quart or so of strong vinegar (have to rinse my hands, you know).

A couple of fingertips on my left hand still tingle, where I dipped my fingers into the "brew" while chasing seeds.
