Starting the New Year off on a sharp note

Someone broke into By's truck Sunday night, while he was at his gf's place. They only took a cheap tool belt and that lovely rechargeable flashlight Mom had given him for Xmas. BUT, they smashed out the driver's side window trying to get in, and broke the steering column (trying to steal the truck, or so I'm told). The cop who took the report Monday morning said she thought the same group had stolen a similar truck (same age, same brand) elsewhere in the neighborhood.

And of course, we had taken the truck down to just liability insurance when By's paychecks were unreliable.

By just heard from the body shop they took the truck to--it'll be $800 to get it fixed. **sigh** There goes the reserve we'd hoped to have, with his paychecks and pay-backs from Robyn. (We'd hoped to spend that on more gravel for the driveway. **frowns** Maybe next month.)
