The UnSock Report
Jul. 21st, 2005 07:07 amNot much knitting to report last night. I'd brought my Aran sandal sox with me to work yesterday, with the intent of doing a bit of knitting, and just didn't. Too hot.
Got a couple more inches done on the Spiral Nebula Shawl while I was on the phone last night. It's 18", center neck to center back. Basic shaping plus garter st = fast knit. Am tempted to put a stripe of a ribbon yarn in, just for texture contrast. I've got a lovely one, can't remember the name, but it's something By's mom sent me for Xmas a while back, slightly lighter colors than the mohair loop. Maybe when I finish this ball of yarn, then do the ribbon, then the last little ball of mohair. That would look intentional, and cool, I think.
Planted a bug in Tristan's ear about what he'd like on Turkish socks. Still need to get out larger graph paper, so I can chart By's whole sock at once. The front and back will be interacting directly, and not simply as a repeat of each other, so I've got to be able to see them together. May have to arrange a quick trip with him to Yarn Barn, when it comes time to start them. I don't have the color set he had in mind in stash, nor does Lion's Woolease Sport come in that wide a color range. But Lymouth Encore does, and is the same fiber content.
