Jul. 14th, 2005 07:11 amLooks like I'm going to spend today in the water truck. Expect phone calls, droogs, I'm tired and will need entertainment to keep me awake. Ah, and the noon-thirty staff meeting. Can't forget that. Blech.
All I did yesterday was chase around looking at sick trees, and pull weeds. Very exciting. By had a much more interesting day than I did yesterday. He took his kilt hose in, and met with a gal who's going to do a kilt for him. She managed to find the PERFECT plaid to match the dark taupe yarn, a kind of kelpy green and brown, very nice. (And, she was impressed with the hose, and interested in what I'd charge to do some for her and her husband. Can we say "sewing in trade" boys and girls?) He spent some quality time talking with one of the merchants from fest, about where he wants to go with the merchants at fest this year, and came away with a positive reaction and offers of help, which is very very cool. Got 70-odd pieces of metal roofing from Albert, and is supposed to pick more up after work today. And he went to Costco for groceries, so the pantry is happily full again. (And he got me treats. I know he loves me when he buys me wasabi peas!)
Finally decided that getting the cabled tree pattern workable on socks was going to take way too long, so that's been tabled for right now. I'd pulled a pic a while back, of a cable someone had designed from the knotwork patterns on the doorposts of the great hall at Rohan in The Two Towers. It's a 27-st cable (at least, as I charted it), which ought to be bold enough to fit T's legs nicely. And I *think* I've got the silly thing figured out--all I had was a pic, no charts or instructions. I'm going to start another pair of aran sandal sox for myself, to try out the cable. (It's called making your swatch useful. Or, according to the non-knitting-enabled, rationalization :) )
