Had a full weekend. Worked all day Sat, went home to finish getting ready for Cat's party, which went well, and stayed up waaayy too late for someone who got up at 5am. Had a lovely Sunday, sitting around and talking with a few people left over from the party and Cat and Ranj, who'd come back for brunch.

Cat colored the ends of my hair Sun evening--it was a vivid emerald green, but it faded by about half in the first washing. If she's still willing, I think I'll have her do more of it, so it's colorful for Heartland.

Spent Monday running around since By didn't have to work--pick up Cat, run all the way over to the east side of the metro, to Tandy's, then we had to visit a new fabric store at 119th and Metcalf (very nice stuff, I might add), then to Joanne's because the new store didn't have the fabric Cat was looking for (heavy, smooth dark red cotton with gold honeybees woven in). And back to Cat's, and home.

Gardened yesterday. About half of the stuff I'd had sitting around the yard in flats in either in the ground or in pots now, including the big pot of Hedychium Donna gave me. The mint bed ought to be more interesting this year--it's now sporting Pink Morn petunias, three colors of verbena, a polygonum with the common name of red dragon, cannas, and the ginger. Haven't decided if the key lime goes into the ground there, or into a big pot. Pot would be easier, but I wouldn't have to worry about it while we were gone if it were in the ground. Got a lot of weeds pulled, too. My goal is to get the rest of it in before we leave, preferably before Friday so that evening isn't so rushed.

Got some knitting done over the weekend--started a shawl just before the party, because I didn't have any brainless knitting in progress. It's the Pi Are Square shawl from EZ's Knitting Around; the back half is rounded like a half circle shawl, the fronts are rectangular and drape very nicely. It makes more sense if you see it, I guess. Both of By's socks are ready to start the heel shaping, which means I need to decide how I'm handling the heel ornamentation and leg shaping further up.

So far, work's started out quiet. Not sure if New Boss is still not talking to me, or just distracted this morning; the peace is welcome either way. The calender says Courtney's absent today, which is not welcome--I really didn't want to prep the last two (large) flower beds by myself today. Needs doing, though, and it beats the rest of the graduation prep on campus.

edited 5/18/05 11:30am: Turns out New Boss was stupid enought o come in at 2am to powerwash the parking garage again, so he's too tired to pester anyone today. Day just keeps looking up.
