Went home sick at 11 yesterday...allergies again. I'd been picking up a pile of crumbling mildewed fiberboard (which used to be three archery targets), and was a red itchy mess by the time it was all in the truck. Unloaded the truck, hurried home to a shower and Benadryl. Spent my afternoon and evening working on projects, trying to keep my hands busy so I wouldn't scratch myself to bits. Still somewhat itchy, and very snuffly today.

Did get all my music for tomorrow scanned, but I was too lazy to print it yesterday. I need to do that tonight. After a great deal of trying to make do, and being very frustrated, I finally found the right presser foot for the sewing machine, and got a carry-bag made for my recorders. Nothing fancy, it doesn't even all match (it's made out of upholstery fabric samples), but it ought to work for tomorow. Did a little knitting....five or six more pattern repeats on the Orenburg style scarf while I was waiting on the scanner, which puts that close to done. And I finished the first side's edging on the lily of the valley shawl, got that corner turned, stitches picked up along the side, and the second corner turned. Go me.

New Boss has already been here and picked up The Other Dave for a project (before 6:30, TOD was pissed about that). New Boss doesn't grasp the "savor the morning coffee" culture here. And neither The Other Dave nor myself are feeling well today...I'm still allergy-ridden, and he's messed up his wrists helping his dad lay hardwood flooring this week. And it's cold (37 degrees, last I checked). Silly boss, the grounds department doesn't work unless we have to when it's below 40. We didn't get the rain they'd predicted for yesterday afternoon, which will help the tree-planting today, but that also means I'll need to run out and water some new things on the tree trail. Eeek...wonder if the installers were planning on watering in the new trees? Don't think that was on the bid....gak. Must ask New Boss about that. Well, I may be watering trees this afternoon. Good thing I never cleaned out my purse (two sock yarns and a lucet project in there now).

1. print the rest of the music for tomorrow
2. mark what parts I'm playing on each song
3. get music IN ORDER and into page sleeves
4. finish lucetting laces for my bodice
5. get ends woven in on thigh-hi stockings
6. make ties for thigh-hi stockings
7. dig out cloaks
8. clean out and re-pack basket (recorders & music, stand, feast gear, some cloth hankies)
9. find something less modern-looking to put a stash of altoids in --- VERY IMPORTANT

[edited to add]
10. MAKE SURE TICKETS ARE IN PURSE. It'd suck to have to pay to get in.

[editited again to add]
11. make sure I have Benadryl and some kind of lotion in basket, since I'm scratching again. I'd hate to get blood on the new white chemise.

edited one more time:
9:41 pm...everything's done except going through all the music and marking parts, and a lot of it was marked already. Oh, and the altoids stash. Sitll need to figure that out. Didn't do ties for the thigh-hi's, they just wouldn't stay up. Instead, I stitched up a quick and sleazy garter belt (elastic and four buttons)....nothing fancy or elegant, but it will hold my stockings up, and that's good enough.

That's my new motto. Dudes, how hard it is to plant a tree? You dig a hole, you put the root ball in the hole, leaving the pretty fluffy green end out where we can all see and enjoy it. See, nice and easy.

Advice to the contractors currently planting on campus: The entire root ball goes in the hole. Yes, you have to dig a bigger hole. I've done it before, it's not that bad, you'll live. No, the tree won't drown. Honest. Trust me. These trees are being planted in parking lot islands, raised 6" above parking lot grade, surrounded by asphalt, on a slope, with no irrigation. Drowning is the least of my worries. And don't argue with me because I'm a woman. I've bullied bigger (and smarter) contractors than you.

Gods above and below. I have this argument with EVERY landscaper that's ever been out here planting. One of my goals for this winter is to make up a sheet detailing what I expect when trees are installed here, and I'm going to make sure it goes out with every bid request.

Our schedule for tomorrow:

10:30 Westover Way
12:00 Westover Way
1:00 Hunter's Glen
2:00 Cup and Chaucer

Now, I remember Betty saying she'd got the 1pm changed to something at 3 or 3:30, so we'd have time to eat, but it hasn't been changed on RenFest's website yet. I will look it up tonight.
