Much as we need the rain, I'd hoped for a more productive day at work than it looks like I'm going to get. Blech. And my feet are wet already, because my boots were still wet from yesterday when I put them on today. Double blech.

C & I did some investigating and planning on the tree trail yesterday. Found what looks like a red-leafed crab, or maybe wild plum, in one of the wild areas. It's a showy little tree already, even at 4' tall, so we're going to try to knock down the poison ivy and wild dogwood around it, make that spot a litte more groomed. There's a bit of what looks like Solomon's seal that we need to move to a better location, and some ox-eye daisies that came up in the turf; those will go in a flowerbed. And Donna said she'd let me have all the Shasta daises and blue sage I wanted--and agastache, and blackberry lily--all the things I'd need to do some old-timey perennial beds.

Was wet and tired when I got home from work last night, so I consoled myself with a bit of crocheting before rehearsal. Finished the doily I'd started Tues night (which makes that a 3-hr pattern), and started the next one in that set of print-outs. Worked on it a bit more after rehearsal, but didn't get far. This next pattern is more fiddly, lots of stacked blocks of stitches, and that's hard to do the fine thread and hook I'm using.

Rehearsal went really well last night--three Gilbert and Sullivan bits, two Gershwin bits, and Semper Fidelis march by Sousa. Yes, Sousa on recorders. It's better than it sounds, especially now that we're getting all the accidentals correctly. My ebony soprano does a decent piccoloo imitation on the marches, very perky. And "Chattanooga Choo Choo" is just cute. Betty's still threatening us with finding a 4-part version of "Stars and Stripes" to add to the list; she got a good laugh when I told her that I just didn't think recorders had a butch enough sound for that one.

By's working for Terry again today; hopefully, he'll corner Terry while he still has money this morning, and get paid back for the materials he had to buy. Terry'd given him money to buy trim boards and such, but not enough, so By used the money he'd gotten from sellign aluminum to make up the difference. I'm not very happy about that.

By will be working for Robyn next week--they're trying to put together a Mother's Day promo for First Friday (which is a week from today). *crosses fingers*
