Have I mentioned I hate snow?
Jan. 29th, 2004 07:16 amJust in case I forgot and all....
Spent yesterday shovelling and spreading icemelt, because the young people of Johnson County apparently can't take time away from their cell phones to watch out for the ice on their own. Blech. It was cold yesterday. It's cold again today. And today we get to shovel the storm drains open. Double blech.
Did score a BIG pile of paper from the print shop yesterday afternoon. Courtney and I had gotten caught pawing through the print shop recyle bin on the dock, and the gals who caught us took us inside to go through the bin that didn't have snow on top. Even better. And as we were finishing, one of the managers, D, noticed I was there and told me he'd set aside a couple of boxes for me. So, most of a 35-gal trash bag, 2 full boxes, plus some in a third box. Afer Courtney & Donna & the the greenhouse folks had taken what they wanted too. Mostly 11x17" 20-lb white (the two full boxes), some long narrow strips of something heavier, wide chunks of a smooth pink stuff (I know, pink, but that's easy to fix), and some large pieces of a high-gloss, heavy paper I thought I might cut down and use to print photos on. The paper cabinet is getting full, and I need to get busy. D said he'd be cleaning in Mar or April, and that tends to generate 10-12 boxes.
The other high point of yesterday was that I was the first one in grounds to ask for time off around Memorial Day, so I got the days I wanted off--Wed-Sat, of the week BEFORE Memorial Day (or, the whole week preceeding Heartland). At least one person in the shop will probably be cranky with me about that when he goes in to get his time off, but gee whiz, if you're gonna make plans, get your time-off request in when you make the plans, don't wait for two months.
