Too much excitement last night
Jan. 14th, 2004 07:07 amBy got to tear apart our shower last night, to fix a water leak. Luckily, he had parts to do a decent fix stashed in the garage (Byron's Stash-o-matic to the rescue!). And shame on whoever plumbed it that way in the first place....not only had they put in some sort of plastic tubing from the supply to the faucets, but they'd put in way too much tubing, so it had sharp bends that, you guessed it, broke.
Guess we need to think about how we want to redo that bathroom sooner rather than later.
In other news, I got a few rounds done on The Sweater, enough that the interlaced swirls border is starting to be recognizable. Still need to graft the toe together on the first of the blue Fireside Socks; that's in my work-knitting bag.
After much fussing with the various graphics-ish prgrams on our computer, I finally got photos to print out the way I wanted, and trimmed and bound into a pair of art books for By. (Note: for the record, Photoshop 2.0 sucks Twinkies. Badly enough I was using Word for Windows 97 to arrange the photos for the book pages.) Made the covers out of a trash AOL cd (cut into quarters, hence 2 books), then wrapped in a goldenrod crinkly paper, and edged in purple paper (so the plastic edges didn't show). Three pages per book, each cut into a circle the size of the original cd, then folded to fit between the covers. It's hard to describe, but the first page unfolds when you open the cover, and you lift the bottom of the first page to unfold the next. It's very neat. The covers are held together by the pages, and a hinge of ribbon which sticks out the bottom so you can tie the book closed. No text, just a few of the vintage porn photos I'd found online. By liked them. I'm thinking I ought to do another for him soon, as a treat after doing emergency plumbing last night. I have more "pages" of pics saved and ready to use, and now that I've done it, assembly will be much quicker.
