Went shopping after By got off work yesterday, starting with the emergency trip to Yarn Barn for needles. While we were there, By found a fulled wool remnant in a lovely dark wine shade to do into a vest.

Next stop, walk down to Everything But Ice, because By hadn't been in there before, and wanted to look for pervertables. Only we found that they sell upholstery fabric, $10 for what's left on a bolt....one silver, one medium blue velvety stuff, enough to do cushions on the built-in seat we want to do in the living room.

Then off to Hobby Lobby for beads and feathers for By's projects, and memory wire for me, because I forgot to make myself a set of ring markers when I was doing them for other people for Xmas. And a couple skeins of the heathery off white yarn that's the main background shade for The Sweater (see previous journal entry). And some fun beads for me, since they were half off.

Dinner at Jade--not as good as usual, not the cooks we're used to seeing (ok, we're mostly there on weekends), very slow--followed by a quick stop at Hastings. The ladies on the knitting list are right, the new issue of Knit It magazine sucks rocks. Belle Armoire had some cool stuff in it, though. And got two new books--Fallen Angels (Larry Niven and a couple of other writers I can't remember this early), and the just-out prequel to the Wheel Of Time Series. Woo hoo. It counts as a Jordan fix, until he get the next one of those damn books out.

*yawn*

Then home, and bed, and after bed, a late dessert of ice cream and the last of the truffles, and part of the champagne left over from New Year's. Then sleep.

Looks like today will be one of those ease-back-into-work days--classes don't start back up until the 21st, and there's practically no one on campus. The part-timers will be off painting for the carpenters, so we don't have to supervise them or look busy to set a good example. I packed some of the new plant catalogs and the entrelac socks I'd started in the car yesterday afternoon. Looks like I'm going to need them.

And, it's supposed to warm up into the 30's today, which ought to transform our driveway from ice sheet back to gravel.

Tony Avent, referring to Lilium lancifolium 'Floripleno' (double flowered tiger lily) in the 2004 Plant Delights Catalog.

Score twice, even!

First, one of Donna's greenhouse groupies was cleaning out her attic, and brought me a box of yarn. We likes yarn, don't we, my precious.....

*gulp*

'Scuse me, long slow day.
*shoves tangent back into brain*

Anyway.....

Second score: I talked to the supply manager from the print shop, who said that yes, he would save paper for me next time he was cleaning and throwing out old unused stuff. Woo woo--free art supplies!!! I owe him a favor now; must remember to get some extra petunias or something come flower planting season.
