Spent Satuday at work knitting on the Greco-Turkish sox, then spent Sat evening making ATC's (rather, doing prints that will eventually become ATC's) so my hands could rest a bit. My left hand is still stained with ink.

Did our last-minute Xmas shopping yesterday, no a good idea, everywhere we went in Lawrence was a Zoo. Also did some impulse shopping: there was a guy with a small stand of bonsai junipers in a parking lot along Iowa yesterday afternoon. The centerpiece of the display was magnificant, 15" tall, a spreading arch that flowed back down towards the pot. 30 yrs old, with all the neat back and branch structure that age gives. $450. Yikes. The tree that came home with us is a 6" tall, 3-yr old juniper in the windswept style, still has the wire training the trunk but the main line of the tree is truly lovely. I'm such a sucker for trees.

Finally cutting up some of the hand-made paper I did years and years ago (I think this was even before you came along, Cat, that's how long I've been toting it around). Did leaf prints on a few sheets, and a random application of ink rubbed on the top of another sheet (it's very textured stuff). The sheet I'm cutting this morning has sepia-toned sage leaf prints, and I think I'm going to find some poems or herby comments to write on it, since the prints are fairly subtle.

Got a fair amount of knitting done on the Pi shawl yesterday. It's now up to 576 stitches. At the last icnrease round, I switched from feather and fan to cat's eye, which is patterned every row, but easy to memorize despite that. Note to self: plan these things ahead a little better, feather and fan is a better outside-of-shawl pattern than it is an in-the-middle pattern.

Doing laundry and running errands today (must fetch cat food, or they chew our toes all night). And wrapping presents, since we won't have that much time at Mom's to do that when we get there. And I should clean the kitchen, since Courtney's coming over to make melt-and-pour soap tomorrow while By's at work. Oh! almost forgot--must make those stitch markers for By's mom's Xmas tonight; I won't have time to do that between now and that trip.
