Even the best of plans
Nov. 19th, 2003 11:26 am...don't survive the first engagement with the enemy. Or something like that.
The enemy is, in this instance, a male whitetail deer with what I guess is a good-sized rack of antlers. I haven't seen him, nor has anyone else at work, but in two nights he's scraped about half the bark off of three of my new trees, rubbing the velvet off his antlers.
So, today, instead of pulling the last batch of petunias which have stubbornly refused to yield to November, I am putting tree wrap on the damaged trees and their neighbors, hoping to prevent further damage.
I told the guy at the warehouse (who bowhunts deer) that he was welcome to the deer, if he could catch him.
Job security, I guess.
By didn't get home until after 10pm last night--he said he put in a 14-hr day. He expects to be that late tonight. *sigh* 'Tis the season. At least Robyn fed him.
I got a fair amount accomplished yesterday. Two loads of laundry. Loaded the dishwasher. About 2 1/2" total on the Faroese shawl, about 1" on the maple leaf shawl. Got 2 bins of random yarn packed into my yarn storage cubbies, and two drawers of sock yarn emptied into cubbies too.
Tonight's To-Do list:
* get show clothes packed and into car
* gather whatever hair stuff and makeup I'm going to need, and pack it too
* 1 more load of laundry
* go to bed before midnight!!!
Annual Show Countdown: it opens tomorrow!
somehow, I feel like I've lost a few days somewhere in there...
