It's going to be one of those days
Nov. 8th, 2003 10:05 amThe boss (the one that's retiring very very soon) left a littl bit ago, having annouced he'd done all the work he intended to do before his retirement. He also announced that he might or might not be here all day, so he wouldn't know if I was here all day or not. And since it's cold, and I'm the only grounds person here, and the other maint guys are in their shop 2 buildings away hiding, it's likely no one else will notice or care if I'm here all day. The boss, in fact, instructed me to stay out of trouble and stay warm, and thought that my stated intent to save the tulip planting for next week (when it's supposed to be warmer) was fine. This all translates to: keep your head down, I don't care if you hide in the office, and you can leave early if you want to.
The joys of a government job.
The Sock Report: just finished weaving in ends on the Timber Frame socks, so those are officially DONE. Happy me.
Now I'm playing....found a pattern yesterday for a modular-knit afghan, done in funny little rectangles, joined as you go. I'm not planning on doing an afghan, just playing with it a little bit to see how it goes together.
Depending on how long I decide to stay at work today--or what time I notice the boss's car is gone--I may or may not get to the modular blue socks. I'm getting bogged down on those, in all the back and forth and purling. I don't like working back and forth if I can help it, especially in that gauge. Knitting in the round is much faster.
