I seem to have caught the cold that brought two of my coworkers down this week. Damn them for sharing. Fell asleep in my chair about 8:30 last night.
The boss called me about 12:30 yesterday afternoon, and told me to send everyone home, including myself. Not going to argue with that one. So, after a little scurrying to update timecards and do something diabolical with a plastic spider, I was out the door shortly after 1.
Came home to the beginnings of a decadent split-pea soup, and By tidying the kitchen. We decided to go do our running around last night, since this is going to be a short weekend for me (I'm swapping Tues for Sat, so I can have Sat off for the concert). So, off to Lawrence, for a "seasonal" blouse to wear to the concert, some rock sugar for Robyn, and the usual magazine/book run at Hastings.
Found a nice blouse set, bright red, at Penny's: simple satin shell, with a basic long-sleeved blouse over it. The over-shirt was mostly sheer, with dots of the satin. Also found some nice stuff on the clearance rack: a magenta silk/poly blend broomstick skirt, and two tops that matched it, both cotton.
The Unsock Report: rather than get too involved in a new project (playing with the mitered rectangles, which are addictive little things), I got out the lace maple leaf shawl and did a couple rounds on it last night. It's about 28" across now, unstretched. I don't have any idea how big that will be once it's finished and blocked. I've got a dozen or so more rounds until I'm at the point where I have to decide to keep going, or stop and finish out the points on the square. I'd like to make it big, the idea of a large piece of lacy fabric amuses me greatly. And I've still got plenty of the red yarn, I think.
