Saturday I skipped out of work a little early and we ranto Lawrence for dyes, as [livejournal.com profile] classics_cat and [livejournal.com profile] ranjtheobscure were planning coming over for food and fiber things. She'd got some neat undyed clothes from Dharma, and now they're a range of lovely hues and textures.

We're starting the packing for Laid Back. Since R & M are attending, we're doing the cat hair decontam of all our bedding and clothes. R is much more fun when his allergies aren't acting up. By and K (one of hte people we came with)have the meals planned out already, so we're just about ready to go.

We're still waiting on the guy who borrowed the fire pokers to bring them back. They went out for the Aries Rising event July 4, and were supposed to come back that Sunday. Then, they were going to come back a couple of weeks ago. I sent an email to the guy who has them, saying we need them back, and was informed I was, and always had been rude to him. cut for grousing )

We were awakened this morning by the phone--Robyn calling to say she'd spent all weekend taking care of her mother, and didn't have anything ready for By to do in studio. So, we get some quality and chore time together today.

I'm about a third of the way through the afghan for Stan. The pattern is simple, just enough texture to break the stripes up a little bit and make it more interesting. The yarns are very soft, and all easy to care for (one less thing for Myrna to worry about). The colors are rich--garnet, chocolate brown, gold, and a purplish-grey-and-brown that works up into a light mottled granite tone.

And I'm almost in tears now, working on it, because every stitch reminds me of why I'm making it.
