Working up to this work thing
Jul. 12th, 2003 06:11 amIt's Saturday, it's very early, why rush?
Spraying again today, fun fun fun. I sprayed all day yesterday too. Only got 1 or 2 tanks' worth of spraying left today, then most things will be done for a couple of weeks. Which is good--I'll probably be watering trees next week.
The sock report: I finished the first of the blue spiral rib tube socks Wed evening. Nice fit, the toe's a little weird, but since I changed the stitch count and didn't change the toe shaping, I kinda expected that. I'll know better for the next pair. Overall, pattern gives comfy socks, which are easy to knit. Hey classics_cat, these would probably be a good choice for a first pair of socks....
Classics_cat: I haven't forgotten getting you the pattern for that knitted dress. I just haven't sat down since the 4th to pull the stitch counts and stuff. Will try to do that tonight.
By got home from work last night with a truckload of pallets he scrounged. I think some are shed parts, and the rest are just nice wood (red oak!). He's bringing the truck to school this morning, to dump some of our living room chairs in the dumpster.
That's right boys and girls, the nasty old flowered chair is gone. It was our first furniture purchase together, $14 from Grandma's Trunk in Manhattan, and it was ugly before the cats scratched on it. We're also dumping By's chair (which was a hand-me-down from Brenda years ago), and the decent-looking but very uncomfortable olive green chair from Mom (who got it from Aunt Kathy). My chair and By's already have replacements. We inherited a beige recliner from draco_kc a while back (Tuffy says thank you very much, btw), and a friend in Topeka gave us her living room chair because she didn't have enough living room for it. So, we now have 2 things in the living room that don't look like poor college student furniture. Kinda cool.
Of course, we're still using short spools as end tables. You gotta have *some* furniture you can do arts & crafts on without worrying about getting glue or paint on the finish.
