There and back again / The sock report
Jul. 9th, 2003 07:02 amThere was Omaha, Sunday morning.
After a busy week last week, July 4 went well. draco_kc & his SO didn't make it out, due to car issues, but we did get to see them on Sat. Had a pleasant evening Friday with the folks that did make it out. We didn't get to the "planned activity" By had dreamed up--tie-dying--so By decided to do that Sat morning. (Some of my fingernails are still dark blue, but the rest has worn off.)
Anyhow, back to Omaha....We were lazing around Sunday morning, not moving very fast and contemplating a day of vegetating with a stack of movies, and Ashe calls. He's got a project he's got to finish before they head to NY for Starwood, and he was really behind. We (silly people, we are) volunteered, packed, and were in Omaha by 3pm. Got a few hours of work in Sunday evening, got lots done Monday, and then stayed up way too late talking to Karen (like 1:30 am), and drove home Tues. So now, our sleep schedules are way off, but hopefully Ashe is closer to being caught up so they can leave. It was a good time, even if he did work us hard.
Work looks to be slow today. It's hot, and dry, and it's been hot and dry, so I'm off to water trees. Big surprise there. And knit--no surprise there either. Spiral rib tube socks this time, with some of the shaded blue yarn I dyed a couple of weeks ago. I'm about half done with the first sock.
The sock report--I finished the first of Ranj's socks on the July 4. Just barely started the second one. I still haven't got the heels designed for those. Better think about that. And--I finished a pair of simple socks in a stripey red yarn (part of the stash By's mom sent me in May) on the drive home yesterday. That pair took about 2 weeks, off and on. Next up: designing a pair of Turkish socks for classics_cat. Hey babe--you want the Turkish/Anatolian patterns I've been using, or you want me to come up with a more Greek pattern?
