Now I'm over 30, and can't be trusted
May. 15th, 2003 06:57 amOr so my friend Donna says. She should talk, she's my mom's age.
I got home last night to a potted mini rose & birthday card on the deck. By had fixed a wonderful birthday dinner--fresh-squeezed limeade, fruit salad, baked catfish, stir-fried veggies, rice....and angelfood cake for dessert. He spoils me terribly.
Got about 1 1/2" done on Robyn's socks Tues, which is pretty good for trying to IM friends and do 3-color knitting at the same time. And, I did finish the cotton knit dress Tues. I think if hanging for 2 days hasn't stretched it out, I don't have to worry. Last night, I finished the charity afghan I'm sending to my sister for one of her foster kids. I need to start making baby blankets and hats, I think. She's mentioned a few times that she's regularly picking up babies to go into foster care that have no clothes/supplies but the diaper they're wearing when she picks them up.
I got to go plant shopping on the work credit card again. Always makes for a good day. (The replacement stuff I'd ordered last week did show up on the truck, and when the people I'd ordered from called the supplier, they were told it ws sold out. I'm jinxed with plant orders this year.) Might get to do it again today, too--someone up the hill thinks the way to deal with spots under trees where the grass won't grow is to put flower beds there, and we're out of leftovers to stick in beds.
That part-time employee, D, is making trouble again. I guess he's been needling people the last two weeks, trying to pick fights, or just make them react in a way that he could go bitch. Yesterday, around lunch time, he thought he had somethin to bitch about, and I guess D really laid into Ted (my boss) and Wayne (Ted's boss). The little Ted's said about the meeting, D's been attacking the entire department, including Ted & the way he manages (which is D's first mistake). Wayne's supposed to render judgement about what to do with the old coot soon, hopefully today. Personally, I think D's just about attituded himself out of a job. Some of the guys are wondering if he's looking to get fired, or disciplined, so he can sue. (Why he thinks he can is beyond me, but then, I'm just watching this--D isn't someone I work with if I can help it.) *shakes head* Humans. Ted's quite vexed about the whole affair--it's interferring with his "make no waves until I retire" policy.
Graduation seems to be passing with a minimum of fuss, other than the new boss deciding he wanted all of the mulch on inner campus refreshed this week. Very few calls about things we missed this year. The mulch this is a silly nuisance, and one of the new boss's pet peeves, so that will probably be a yearly thing. Beyond that, not too bad.
