The rush is almost over
May. 16th, 2003 06:06 amGraduation at JCCC is tonight. And given that the weather people are calling for rain all day, I expect today to be very low key. I'm not complaining.
Spent most of yesterday running around with one of the part-time people, cutting suckers off trees and doing light pruning in the high-visibility areas. My hands hurt when I got home, so I only got a few rows of knitting done last night.
I did get my new iris (from last week!) planted last night, which involved deciding where I want a future path to be, because I bought the pair of dwarf beardeds with the thought that they'd be great flanking some stepping stones. Also got my birthday rose planted, in the corner of the raised bed we made in early spring (March? April? I don't remember exactly). It fits there, and the wine-purple ought to look cool with the rose and lavender and pale yellow yarrows later this summer.
Had to ruin one of my surprises for Mom last night. We were thinking about sneaking up while she was in the hospital and putting a hedge down the side of her yard before she got home. But, she was talking about paying someone to come till the space for her, and buying (!) plants for it--can't have that. I have oodles of that big Amur honeysuckle I need to dig up or get rid of somehow, Mom needs hedging....looks like we have a match.
Byron & Ashe were laughing at Chuck on the phone last night, teasing him about his expectations for getting laid at Heartland. I told him that I had similar expectations, and was sure something could be arranged. Woo-hoo! (By also said, after the phone call, that something could be arranged before Heartland, since Ashe & Chuck would be driving up to set up camp and work on fire stuff today.)
