Okay, it was really only 4 tons of tumbled river rock that I moved yesterday (with a shovel, I might add -- girl power!!), but I feel like I moved 16. Woof. Not that I hurt, but I am one tired puppy today. Good thing it's been kinda rainy today, so the boss doesn't expect much out of us today. I've had a good morning of knitting at work. *grin*

Had a lovely visit with Brenda two weeks ago. Wish we got to see her more. Better yet, I wish she had found a job closer. But she's mussed that she might, 2-3 years from now, look for a job in this area. *cross fingers*

Actually got dressed up for fest while Brenda was here. We still have custody of her old court dress, and she & By laced me into it. There's a reason "ladies" had maids back then--sheesh. There's no way I could have gotten into or out of that dress by myself. Kinda fun to walk around all fancy though. And it was really fun to show the pics to the guys at work the next week. They're not used to seeing me dressed like a girl, and it scares them.

Sat down couple of days ago and figured out where I am in my Xmas present progress. The conclusion? I'm way behind. I've spent the last two evenings knitting or crocheting frantically, and actually have 2 finished objects to show for it. First, the baby afghan for Byron's brother. That's actually due next month, so finishing now is very good. Second, one of the big triangular shawls I enjoy knitting so much, in mixed greens and blues.

I still need to finish the lace shawl for my mom (I'd wanted to have it done for Mother's Day, but no luck). And a crocheted afghan for my mother-in-law, if I can bring myself to work on it. It's a rather bland Pepto-Bismal pink. She likes that color, and I have lots of that yarn I want to get out of my house. I may try to find a pattern that works up quicker, and unravel what I've done to far, just to get it done. I decided last night to do another triangle shawl for Robyn, in shades of purple.....I started it this morning, and have a piece about 24" wide done so far. I want to do a couple of quick, large-needle knit afghans for our grandmothers, but I have to sort my yarn first, and see what I have enough of to do that kind of project. Don't know what I'm going to do for my sister, and some other people. Guess we'll see what kind of time I have.

And I'd really like to do some knitting for myself, before Thanksgiving. I found the adorable scarf pattern on knitty.com, called "vegan fox". It looks like one of those 1930's style fox stoles, with the head and legs attached, only it's knitted in some of the new faux-fur yarns. Ideally, I'll get it done in time to wear to the annual show, it'd fit in with the theme this year.

Add to all this the fact that I'm trying to reduce the number of UFO's in the living room (that's "unfinished objects" for the non-knitting people out there). I have afghans I started years ago, waiting to be finihsed. In my defense, one is too heavy and warm to work on except in Jan & Feb, because you have to hold the thing on your lap to work on it. But the others were just put down and forgotten when I got sidetracked to something else. The baby afghan and the green shawl were the first of the UFO's to be done. The next will be a scrap afghan I started two winters ago. It's assembled now, I'm just doing the final seams and the edging. After that, it's a knitted, circular baby blanket in green and blue (if I remember correctly, that's about half done too). Can't remember what the next layer in the pile is.

It's enough to keep me out of trouble, certainly.
