By's running on auto-pilot, I think. I don't think he's been to bed before midnight more than once in the last two weeks. It sounds like most of the sets are coming along okay; By doesn't have as much of his stuff done as he planned, but what's finished looks quite nice. I almost hope one of the black leather bags he made doesn't sell, I'd love to use it myself.

I spent part of yesterday being a responsible adult, and part of it being self-indulgent (because one of us needs to be rested). The responsible adult stacked and ran the dishwasher, made a trip to the grocery store, fixed a hearty vegetable stew for dinner, and cleaned catboxes. The self-indulgent me decided to take socks for "at the desk" knitting, and spent most of the afternoon designing different cable patterns for the "Aran Sandal Socks" pattern out of the XRX Socks book. (It's quite spiffy, if I do say so myself.)

Not sure what's on today's work agenda. After work, I need to go pick up pearls from the gal who strings them for Robyn. And then home, to pack my show clothes and stuff, since I leave from work to go to Robyn's.

The Sock Report: Like I said above, I spent yesterday afternoon designing a new cable set for the Aran Sandal Sock. It's fancier, but shouldn't be too difficult. And I took the time to chart it out on its own, so it'll be easier to handle and read tomorrow.

Spending the time on that project made me feel guilty about how long the "Swatch Your Step" socks have been in my purse untouched. I got them out as evening knitting and finished 4 blocks (each leg is worked as 2 panels of 3 blocks each). There are two more blocks to do, then I join the panels and start on the heels. I'm hoping to get in a little time knitting on them tonight.

The UnSock Report: I finished another sweater. Go me! As of Sunday afternoon, the white kimono sweater is officially Done, Done, Done. Ends woven in, nifty button sewn on and everything.

Did a few inches on the sleeve of By's black sweater Monday. I need to have him reach one of his comfy sweaters down from the closet shelf for me to measure sleeve length again. I know I wrote that down, but damn if I know where.

The Flower Basket Shawl is at 82 rows, which is 20 rows past what the pattern cals for, but it's still only 24.5" to center point, slightly stretched. I want it to be at least 30", so onward I go.

I took the swatch I'd knitted with the wool singles and rayon boucle and washed it, still on the needle. (Note to self: don't do that again with wooden needles. Messes up the finish.) It took a lot of washing to get the lanolin and grime out of the wool, but it looked great once it had dried, so I'm going to continue that piece, I think. It's also softer washed, so it'll be okay for a scarf close to the face (which is what I'd half had in mind when I started on it).
